Infrastructure and Facilities

Library

The Ratan Tata Library is a fully airconditioned  study room and seats 120 members.itself. The library maintains a collection of over 3 lakh volumes consisting of books, periodicals, documents and journals. It also receives official reports and publications of Union and State Governments, International Institutions and bodies such as the UN, IMF, World Bank, UNDP and ILO, Other features of the library are:

Convention Center

The Convention Center is a state-of-the-art center for holding symposia, conferences and workshops. It is fully equipped and has a hall with a capacity of 500 people and three smaller halls which can accommodate around 50 people each.

Seminar Room

 

The seminar room is an ultra modern air conditioned room equipped with the latest multimedia projection system. It serves as the venue for holding quest lectures and corporate interaction programmes.

The Cafeteria

The Cafeteria is the best in its kind.

 

Admission Procedure

  •  Admissions are done according to the guidelines issued by the University of Delhi.
  • Students applying for UG courses must have scored at least 40% marks.
  • Students who are applying for courses specializing in a subject should have passed that subject in their qualifying examination.
  • All PG admissions are conducted through either merit or entrance. 50 % of the seats are filled with merit and the other 50% on entrance.
  • All PG candidates must have scored 40% in UG examinations.
  • Students applying for MA in Economics must have 60% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • For MA Geography, candidate must have BA (Hons)/B.Sc(Hons) in Geography with 50% OR BA/B.Sc./B.Ed with 50% marks and 55% marks in Geography OR BA/BA(Hons)/B.Sc/B.Sc(Hons) with 60% marks.
  • Admission to all M. Phil and Ph. D courses are through written examination and a Personal Interview.
  • All M. Phil/Ph. D candidates must have studied the subject they are applying for at the qualifying examinations

Fees Structure

The approximate fees for MA(Economics) is Rs 7000-8000 per year and for the MBA programme approximately is Rs 15000 per annum.

 

Placements

Organisations like Godrej, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Maruti Suzuki, Amazon, etc., visited the campus to offer placements. . DSE saw decent placements last year.. The highest placement package offered was Rs. 20 LPA CTC and the highest summer internship stipend was Rs. 1,40,000 for two months. The average package offered was Rs. 9.64 LPA CTC and the internship stipend was Rs. 39,000 for two months.

 

Infrastructure

The infrastructure is not the best among Delhi University colleges and the students get the basic facilities. It is  managed with  students and faculty. The Ratan Tata Library houses the best books.

Faculty

Faculty members are well qualified and have a lot of rich experience. The course curriculum and presentations give a great learning experience which prepares you to face the industry. Apart from the faculty and course, DSE, MBA and HRD branches have a very strong alumni base. The student to faculty ratio is good. The teachers are helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. Enough industry exposure is provided through frequent guest lectures and industrial visits. Alumni network is great to  gain early insights and know the demands of the corporate world.

Conclusion

Students feel that overall, it gives a great learning experience.

Indian Institute of Mass Communication-Delhi

The IIMC Society was inaugurated on August 7th 1965. It is an autonomous body registered under the Societies Registration Act 1867, runs the Institute. It is funded by the Government of India through the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India. The Institute has a Governing Body, the Executive Council, headed by a Chairman, with the Director General of the Institute, representatives of the faculty and eminent media persons as members.

Infrastructure and student facilities

  1. IIMC is taken care by the Information and broadcast ministry  and hence there can be seen the latest t equipments when it comes to camera’s, video camera’s, editing software, great studios etc. Wi-fi facility in every classroom, AC in every classroom, slide presentation monitors, mic, and a great auditorium to accommodate 1000 people. The library is a hub for all the previous notes, the latest magazines and access to all the archives.

 INFORMATION RESOURCE CENTRE

The Institute has the largest specialized library in mass communication in the country. It has collected about 33,968 volumes of Books and bound Journals on different aspects of mass communication and allied subjects such as print media, broadcasting, advertising, communication, communication research, public relations, radio and television, film, information technology and traditional media.

The Library subscribes to over 82 Journals/ magazines and 32 Leading Newspapers. It has also been providing a newspaper-clipping service to its users, including complete record of news items and leading articles on Mass Communication published in various leading professional journals and periodicals.

The library is fully computerized and has automated its housekeeping and service operations through the latest version of Library software LIBSYS 7, On-line public access catalogue (OPAC) and Online Journals are available for students and faculty members.

Library has also developed a state of the art Multimedia, reference and Research section for students, faculty and research scholars.

IIMC has the state of the art computer labs .Is a part of National Knowledge Network  and  teleprinter lines from UNI and Varta, which pour in the latest news 24 hours a day

Auditorium

IIMC Manch,is  equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure. The Auditorium/Manch is ideal for seminars, conferences, presentations, cultural programmes etc. It has a seating capacity of 418 person and a covered area of 1232 sq.mts.

 

Hostels

 

The IIMC campus hosts three hostels. The hostels can accommodate approximately 100 students. Students of PG diploma courses at the Delhi campus can avail the facility of hostel.

The other hostel with the capacity of 40 rooms is available for Indian Information Service officers and the students of Diploma Course in Development Journalism. One more hostel for 42 students is under construction.

 

 

 

Faculty

The faculty are all experts themselves and the students benefit from their rich experience. There are   faculty like founder of Thelka magazine, 15 years of experienced journalist who have done almost all kind of reporting and even have visiting faculty for all the courses who mostly give practical knowledge of what it feels like to be on the field and report.

The tution fees for Journalism(Hindi/English) is Rs 79,000 and Radio and TV Journalism is Rs 1,45,000

Advertising and Public relations- Rs. 1,12,000 and

Journalism( Odia, Urdu, Marathi, Malayalam) – Rs.43,000 per course

 

Placements

 

  • Every year some great reputed companies go to IIMC including HT, ET, TOI, TIL, India Today etc
  • To ensure that maximum students get placed, there is a rule that a student who gets placed with a company will not be allowed to give interview for another company.
  • The placements last till 15 days and IIMC is the only media institute in India having a placement drive this long. At times the placements continue even after 15 days.
  • One may even land up with a 10–12 lakhs package The placements are common for all the streams which means that a person pursuing EJ can sit for a ADPR company and vice versa.

Almost 98% people got placed but as its a media college and the jobs are mostly from media houses and publications the average starting package goes maximum upto 3Lakhs.

 

JSS Academy of Education & Research Mysore

JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, formerly known as JSS University, is a deemed to be university located in Mysore, Karnataka. It was established in 2008 under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and is part of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, which runs a variety of educational institutions. This deemed-to-be university is recognized by MHRD and accredited by NAAC with A Grade.

JSS Medical College, Mysuru, was started in 1984-85 and is imparting education in medical sciences (MBBS) course. It is recognized by the Medical Council of India and was affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, Bangalore from 1995-1996. It has now become a constituent college of JSS University established under Section-3 of UGC Act from 28-05-2008.

 

Courses offered

JSS Medical College offers undergraduate course in medicine (M.B.B.S) and postgraduate degree (M.D /M.S) and diploma programmes in 20 medical disciplines. The sanctioned annual intake to the M.B.B.S programme is 200. The college is offering M.Ch Urology, DM Gastroenterology, DM Neurology DM Nephrology. JSS Medical College has many research studies undertaken which have a wide ranging impact in the area of management of diseases. Some of the work done are around, Cancer Stem Cells, Cancer Drug Discovery and Pharmacogenomics, Identification of therapeutic targets, Diabetes Mellitus and many more.

JSS Medical College, is located in a sprawling 43 acre campus in Sri Shivarathreeshwara Nagara, Mysore City, which is about 140 Km from Bangalore. The institution is backed by highly qualified and experienced staff, well equipped laboratories, library, and modern teaching aids.

Facilities

Wi-Fi, labs, and medical facilities are good. AC classrooms and library are available. Mostly, south Indian food is available in the hostel and canteen, but the quality of food is good. Hostel rooms in the new hostel building and old hostel building are different.

 

Affiliations and Recognition

The graduate and post-graduate programs of the college are recognized by the Medical Council of India. The courses offered are also recognized by General Medical Council (UK), Sri Lanka Medical Council and WHO. The college has been recognized by the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, UK, for the award of MRCOG.

The college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka during 1995-1996.

 

 

 

Placements

All the seniors got jobs after their internships. Not even a single company or hospital visits the college. You have to apply for a job in a government or a private hospital. The salary offered starts from Rs. 60,000 to 80,000 for an MBBS graduate. You can do an internship at JSS Hospital, or you can take a transfer to another hospital.

Infrastructure and Facilities

  • Faculty of Management Studies does not have any hostel of it’s own, but one can stay in the 2-3 hostels allotted for FMS students by DU. The most notable of them is VKRV Rao hostel which accomodates around 50 FMS students per year.
  • PG/flats are available nearby at a very cheap rate nearby
  • State of the art canteen at affordable prices to students
  • Fully air conditioned classrooms with projectors installed in each class. The whole college is Wi-Fi enabled along with the hostels.
  • All the necessary books can be availed through college/hostel libraries.
  • FMS lacks a dedicated infrastructure of its own, but the vast infrastructure of the University of Delhi is available for the use.

The tuition Fees at FMS Delhi is one of the lowest and most affordable amongst all Business schools across the country.The Annual tuition fee for MBA-Full Time and Ph.D. programmes at FMS is approximately Rs 10,480 per year. The cut off for general category is 98.56 this year and it was 98.73 last year. So, it calls for some effort just to bag that interview call out of the 1200+ people for 101 General Category seats.
There is  70% weightage for CAT and 30% for GD, Extempore and PI, each carrying 10%.
