8-year-old boy writes a letter to PM, gets a response

Worried over reaching school late due to jam packed traffic? An eight-year-old boy  wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi whose office directed the concerned department to look into the issue. According to a report in Press Trust of India (PTI), Abhinav said,”The under-construction flyover is causing problems for the people in surrounding area and especially I reach school late. I decided to write a letter to the Prime Minister after my grandfather advised me to do so.”

The work on the flyover, which falls on the way to his school in Yeshwanthpur, causes delays due to traffic jams, said Abhinav, who stays in Doddabommasandra. It takes him 45 minutes to travel a three km distance from home to school. When asked why he wrote a letter to the Prime Minister rather than the municipal body, the boy said, “The Prime Minister can solve any problem and hence I wrote to him.”

To his delight, after two weeks, Abhinav received a response from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) saying that the concerned department had been asked to look into the matter. Abhinav is now hoping that the problem would be solved soon and that he would not get late to the school. Here’s what he wrote:

Dear Mr Prime Minister,

I am Abhinav, a student of National Public School, Yeswantpur, Karnataka. Our school is famous for discipline and standard. If we are late by 5 minutes, we will be punished. Our flat is only 3 km from the school. The running time for the school bus is only 10-15 minutes. But, often it takes 40-45 minutes, because the railway gate at Yeswantpur is closed. In the evenings also, the same thing is repeated. As a result, our studies as well as our health is badly affected.

This is because construction of the flyover across the railway gate at Yeswanthpur is not complete. The work cannot be completed because of the delay in getting sanction from the Defence Department. It is the only reason for all this inconvenience.

For all the students of National Public School, I humbly request you to get necessary action for the Yeswanthpur Railway gate flyover, without any delay.

Most respectfully yours

Abhinav
